First of all, oral care is carried out according to different developmental periods, which are mainly divided into infancy, preschool, school, and adolescence. Of course, correct feeding and sleeping patterns should also be paid attention to in infancy. Beneficial for jaw development. 1-3 years old is the germination period of deciduous teeth and children's diet changes. In order to avoid the formation of dental caries and cause premature loss of deciduous teeth, parents should pay attention to letting their children develop good oral hygiene habits, and can go to the hospital for examination and early dental prevention. Once there is a problem, it can be detected and corrected early. Entering the preschool age, also known as the deciduous dentition period, at this stage children's jaws begin to develop, which is also a period of the high incidence of dental caries. Parents need to focus on their children's bad oral habits, such as finger sucking, tongue sticking, upper and lower lip biting, mouth breathing, and biting. These are all bad habits that affect your oral health. Then comes the school age and prepubertal period, 7-13 years old, called the mixed dentition period. At this stage, not only deciduous teeth but also permanent teeth begin to erupt at the same time. However, due to the poor acid resistance and low mineralization of teeth, dental caries is prone to occur. If found, go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible to prevent premature loss of permanent teeth. The eruption of premolars in children aged 9-12 may cause deformed central cusps and premature tooth loss. The development of the jaw is also affected. Therefore, parents should pay attention to this and go to the hospital as soon as possible, so that problems can be treated in time.

Secondly, developing good eating habits plays a very important role in children's oral health, and parents must pay attention to it. For infants and young children, a balanced diet is particularly important. This stage is the period of the rapid growth of the body, and an adequate supply of protein, vitamins, and foods rich in inorganic substances such as calcium, iron, and phosphorus should be ensured, which is more conducive to the healthy development of teeth. In the later stage, you can choose to provide appropriate fruits, snacks, etc., to cultivate children's chewing function. During this period, the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages and food should also be limited, and children should not be overly spoiled. At school age, children should eat more fibrous food, eat more fruits, vegetables, etc., which is conducive to the self-cleaning of teeth, reduce the occurrence of dental caries, promote the growth and development of the oral and maxillofacial surfaces and the orderly arrangement of teeth, and enhance chewing function. In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to children's intake of sweets, such as sugars, desserts, etc., and eat as little or as little as possible to reduce the possibility of dental caries. It also includes acidic drinks. Children like to drink fruit juice, carbonated drinks, etc. Some parents will let their children have more milk. In fact, these drinks will increase the burden on the teeth, causing tooth sensitivity and even pain; try to let children drink more boiled water. If you really want to get your child to drink beverages, they should also be urged to rinse their mouths after drinking.

Finally, develop good oral hygiene habits. Brushing is the key to children's oral care.

In the selection of toothbrushes, choose a suitable toothbrush according to different ages; for toothpaste, choose fluoride toothpaste. Proper oral cleaning and the hidden parts of the mouth should also be cleaned in place, so as to better care for the oral environment and maintain healthy teeth.

In addition to the above three points, parents should also be aware of the importance of regular oral examinations. Infants and young children have oral examinations every 3-6 months, preschool children have an examination every 6 months, school-age children can go to the hospital for a comprehensive oral examination every six months, and have their teeth cleaned once a year. The regular oral examination is to better maintain oral health. On the one hand, it is to prevent problems before they occur, and on the other hand, it is to detect potential dental health problems in time, treat them, prevent oral diseases in a targeted manner, and accept professional guidance and advice from doctors. If a school-age child finds retained deciduous teeth, caries, gingivitis, or misaligned teeth, be sure to go to the hospital immediately. And these problems can actually be detected in time through the preliminary oral examination, and preventive measures can be taken. Children are naturally free and love to play. Therefore, parents also need to pay attention to preventing accidental injuries. For example, after a fall, if a tooth is knocked out or broken, go to see a dentist for treatment immediately.
