In Beijing, on average everyday about 2,000 people are waiting for blood transfusions to sustain life. The person may be a traumatic patient, a pregnant woman, a late-stage cancer patient, or a premature or leukemia child.

In Beijing, eighty percent of the daily blood collection is done on the street and it is affected to some extent by the season. When the weather is too hot or too cold, the blood collection will drop. The summer and winter vacations are the peak period of surgery in major hospitals, and there is often a possibility of a critical point of blood shortage.

On June 18th, the Beijing International Medical Center, the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center and the Chaoyang Red Cross was honor to organize a blood donation campaign together. More than 30 people donated blood and gave the valuable gift to someone in need.

At the blood donation site, everyone carefully fills in the form and proceeds to physical examination, laboratory tests, and blood draws. All the procedures are in order under the guidance of the medical staff.

"This is my third blood donation", "I am doing this the first time", "I am going to have a meeting right away, but I really want to donate blood, can you offer me first?" - At the scene, everyone is enthusiastic and helps each other, and many international friends comes in to donate.

Blood is a special, scarce resource to save lives. Blood donation is the only source of blood for clinical patients. Only blood donation can be ensured by voluntary blood donation.

This free action gives many families the hope for a better life and may tangiblly save their loved ones when they struggle to live.

Red Cross, Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa and IMC  warmly welcome all those who volunteered their arms to donate blood to save lives with your own contribution.
